Take players from learning to competing by building the doubles skills that translate onto the match court.
As the next step in the Principles of Doubles series, this course focuses on preparing players to compete, at any level. Building on the core pillars of roles, positioning, and teamwork, this course takes a closer look at the four roles in doubles and how they evolve as players progress. You’ll learn how to coach more advanced positioning, strengthen partnerships, and develop players who can perform effectively in match situations.
Principles of Doubles #2 has been developed by Rob Smith and Lorna Woodroffe. Rob is a Level 5 coach and LTA Tutor who has coached players on both the WTA and ATP doubles tours. Lorna is a Level 4 Coach and LTA Tutor, a former Top 70 WTA doubles player, and has represented Great Britain at the Olympics.
On the course, you’ll:
· Develop a deeper understanding of the four doubles roles: Server, Server’s Partner, Returner, and Returner’s Partner.
· Explore advanced positioning, teamwork, and roles for higher-level players.
· Learn how to prepare players for team tennis and graded competitive events.
· Take away drills and games designed to build match-ready doubles skills.
· Understand how to support players in making the transition from practice to competition.
We recommended that you complete Principles of Doubles #1 before attending this course, unless you already have strong experience coaching doubles at this level.
“This course is ideal for coaches looking to develop their doubles players to achieve success in competition”
