Barclays Free Park Tennis is a program that offers free tennis sessions to players of all ages and skill levels.
These sessions are designed to be accessible to everyone, attracting players who are unable to pay for coaching sessions or court bookings.
Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions are run by a minimum of two trained and enhanced DBS/PVG-checked Activators.
These Activators are volunteers who have completed an online training course and are responsible for delivering engaging tennis sessions in the parks.
Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions are delivered weekly on Saturday or Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00.
They take place in parks that have a minimum of two or three tennis courts, depending on the park's size.
- Children and Adults can attend Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions.
- Sessions are designed for children over the age of 6 to enjoy, however, those under 6 may be able to attend at the venues' discretion.
- Under 12's need to be accompanied throughout the session by an adult.
- 13+ can come on their own but should be picked up and dropped off by an adult.
- We encourage families to book on and play together as this provides a great experience for all players.

No, you don't need to bring your own equipment.
Barclays Free Park Tennis provides the minimal equipment required to deliver the session, including racquets, mini tennis balls, barrier tape, markers, and a clipboard. This allows players to try tennis without the need to buy equipment in advance.
Absolutely! Barclays Free Park Tennis Participants do not need to be skilled tennis players just ready to have lots of fun!
Yes, if you're 18 years or older and interested in becoming an Activator, you can volunteer to deliver Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions.

Yes, all Activators need to go through a volunteer Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS/PVG) check.
If an Activator does not already have an LTA DBS check, they can obtain one via the LTA site.
Wear suitable clothing and a pair of trainers for moving around.
The sessions aim to run all year round, but it's worth checking with your local Barclays Free Park Tennis venue for any session cancellation dates.
Activators will decide if the session can't go ahead due to bad weather.
Participants will be notified by email and/or text message as soon as such decision is made in such cases.
Emergency contact numbers will be collected during registration, and parents/carers will be notified of any injuries.
A basic First Aid kit is available on-site. First Aid will be administered unless instructed not to when booking or dropping children off.
Emergency contact numbers and any medical conditions are available to Activators.
