Marta Kostyuk heads into the 2026 summer grass court season off the back of one of the best clay court swings in recent history.
The Ukrainian went 17-matches unbeaten, winning the Rouen Open and Madrid Open titles before making a first Grand Slam semi-final at Roland Garros.
We break down Kostyuk’s history on grass courts and look back at some of her past results and successes.
Kostyuk’s best grass court results
As a junior, Kostyuk reached the semi-finals of the Wimbledon girls’ doubles, with Canadian Carson Branstine back in 2017.
A year later, Kostyuk played her first tour-level match on grass in a Billie Jean King Cup – then Fed Cup – tie for Ukraine against Australia, beating Daria Saville to claim her first victory on the surface.
Her best WTA results on grass have come at tournaments in Great Britain. In 2022, she reached the third round of what was previously the WTA 500 event in Eastbourne, before losing to Britain’s Harriet Dart in three sets.
She has also made the third round at Wimbledon twice in her career, in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, she knocked out eighth seed Maria Sakkari in the opening round and went on to beat former world No.2 Paula Badosa, before losing to Madison Keys.
The following year, she was the 18th seed and beat Rebecca Sramkova and Savile, but once again lost to two-time Eastbourne champion Keys.

Kostyuk’s 2025 grass court season

Kostyuk had a difficult grass court season in 2025, losing out in the first round of all three events she played.
In Berlin and Bad Homburg, she lost out to then top-10 star Emma Navarro in the opening round of both tournaments in straight sets.
At Wimbledon, she bowed out against qualifier Veronika Erjavec 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to bring an end to her grass court campaign.
What is Kostyuk’s biggest grass court win?
Kostyuk’s biggest win by ranking on grass came in the opening round of Wimbledon 2023, where she faced world No.8 Sakkari in a tough draw.
Having been bagelled in the first set, Kostyuk came back through multiple rain delays to beat the Greek 0-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Kostyuk has also beaten former Wimbledon and Roland Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova on grass at Eastbourne in 2022, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
