Alexandra Eala: Grass court season history, record & past results

Alexandra Eala is one of the rising stars on the WTA coming into the 2026 grass court season.

The 20-year-old from the Philippines made waves last year in reaching her first tour-level final on the surface and will be looking to achieve bigger and better things this summer.

We breakdown Eala’s history on grass courts and look back at some of her past results and successes.

Eala’s best grass court results 

Eala only made her professional grass court debut in 2024. She lost in the second round of qualifying in Nottingham before reaching the quarter-finals of the Veneto Open WTA 125 tournament.

A year later, Eala went on to make the quarter-finals of the Lexus Ilkley Open and qualify for the main draw at the Lexus Nottingham Open.

It was at the 2025 Lexus Eastbourne Open that she reached her first WTA Tour final, narrowly losing out on the title to Australian Maya Joint 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(10). She became the first Filipina to reach a WTA final.

Eala’s grass court season highlights:

  • 2024 – Made her grass court debut in Nottingham qualifying
  • 2024 – Reached the quarter-final of the Veneto Open WTA 125
  • 2024 – Lost in the final round of Wimbledon qualifying
  • 2025 – Progressed to the quarter-final of the Lexus Ilkley Open
  • 2025 – Finished runner-up in her first WTA final at the Lexus Eastbourne Open
  • 2025 – Made her Wimbledon debut in a loss to former champion Barbora Krejcikova

What is Eala’s biggest grass court win?

Eala’s biggest career win on grass by ranking came against then world No.20 Ostapenko in the second round of the 2025 Lexus Eastbourne Open.

The Latvian was forced to retire with Eala leading 0-6, 6-2, 3-2 (RET).

Eala’s 2025 grass court season

Eala had a breakthrough 2025 grass court season. After losing in the first round of the Lexus Birmingham Open, the 19-year-old went on to reach the quarter-final in Ilkley.

She qualified for the Lexus Nottingham Open before losing out to sixth seed Magda Linette in the first round.

At the Lexus Eastbourne Open, Eala won an epic against Hailey Baptiste in the final round of qualifying 6-7(1), 7-6(4), 6-1 to reach the main draw.

She went on to beat Lucia Bronzetti, third seed Jelena Ostapenko, Dayana Yastremska and Varvara Gracheva to reach her first WTA final.

Eala had four championship points against Joint in the final but eventually lost out in a final set tie-break.
