Day four: British men lift fifth World Team Cup title

Men's
The Lexus GB World Team Cup Men's Team have been crowned champions for a fifth time after staging a late night 2-1 victory over Japan.
The team were led to victory by world No.2 Alfie Hewett and British No.2 Gordon Reid who rose to the occasion against difficult opponents.
Reid got his nation off to the perfect start after he dropped just four games on his way to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Daisuke Arai.
It was then over to Hewett who took on world No.1 Tokito Oda just one week after the Brit defeated the 20-year-old in the US Open final. Hewett looked to wrap up the tie then but Oda produced a gutsy display to win 5-4, 7-5 and take us to a deciding doubles rubber.
There, Hewett and Reid joined forces once again and showed why they are the world's best doubles partnership. Facing Arai and Oda for the title, the all-British duo sealed the tie and the title with an impressive 6-1, 6-2 win.
Meanwhile the quad team cemented fifth place following a standout performance against Brazil in the play-offs.
Greg Slade produced a dominant display against Ymanitu Silva - winning 6-1, 6-1 before Andy Lapthorne brought home the final win for the Brits by beating Leandro Pena 6-2, 6-1.

Men: GB men into seventh final
Great Britain's men's team are into their 7th World Team Cup final after securing a 2-0 win over the Netherlands, thanks to victories from Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett.
Reid set the tone for another successful day for the Brits - beating Ruben Spaargaren 6-1, 6-4 to place his nation just one match win away from a place in the final.
Then, it was over to newly crowned US Open champion Hewett to get the job done. The world No.2 dropped just two games on his way to sealing a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tom Egberink to secure the tie victory.
The defending champions are aiming to seal a fifth title this year when they take on either Japan in the finals.
Women's: Great Britain finish ninth
Meanwhile, the GB women's side secured ninth place at the World Team Cup after edging Chile 2-1.
Abbie Breakwell got the team off to strong start by beating Gloria Llamin 6-0, 6-1 in 50 minutes, before Chile levelled the tie as Macarena Cabrillana edged Cornelia Oosthuizen 6-4, 7-6(4) to take us to a deciding doubles rubber.
There, Lucy Shuker rounded off her 16th and final World Team Cup on a winning note by teaming up with Oosthuizen to secure the deciding doubles rubber with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Llamin and Cabrillana.
Day two: British men in quarter-final action

Men's
Ben Bartram and Gordon Reid both secured singles victories against Korea to secure Great Britain's spot in the men's semi-final.
The first match of the tie saw Bartram drop just three games on his way to beating Ji Hwan Lee 6-2, 6-1 to give his country a confident lead in the quarter-final tie.
Then it was over to Reid who wrapped sealed his country's spot in the final four with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sung-Bong Han.
Great Britain will now take on either the Netherlands or the USA for a place in Saturday's final.
Women's
The British women shook off all disappointment from yesterday's loss as they contest their 9-11 play-off tie against Switzerland.
Abbie Breakwell set the tone for a confident victory after beating Giulia Damiano 6-0, 6-4 in the first match, before Lucy Shuker overcame Angela Grosswiler 6-2, 6-0 to seal the tie.
Next up, they'll face Chile on Friday to determine 9th place.
Quad
The British quad team will bid to secure fifth place at the World Team Cup after sealing a 2-0 win over the USA in their play-off tie.
Greg Slade got off to a winning start after beating former world No.1 David Wagner 6-3, 6-4, before Andy Lapthorne sealed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Andrew Bogdanov.
Slade and Lapthorne will be hoping to carry that momentum into their next tie against Brazil.

Great Britain’s women’s and quad teams lost their opening matches at the World Team Cup against Germany and Chile respectively.
The men’s team have a bye into tomorrow’s quarter-finals.
Women’s: GB lose in two three-set epics
Cornelia Oosthuizen and Lucy Shuker were on the wrong side of two three-set battles in their first round clash against Germany.
In the first match of the tie, Oosthuizen lost out to Katharina Kruger 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-3 after three-and-a-half hours out on court.
It didn’t get any easier for the Brits as Shuker took on Britta Wend in another marathon clash. Once again the Brits were on the end of a tough defeat as Wend came back to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Quad: Brits lose to former champions in deciding doubles
The British quad team were defeated 2-1 against 2024 champions Chile in the World Team Cup quarter-finals.
In their first match, Greg Slade showed great fight in the second set against Diego Perez but eventually lost out 1-6, 6-2, 2-6.
Andy Lapthorne showed his experience to level the match for Great Britain with a stunning 6-2, 6-1 victory over Francisco Cayulef.
However, the 2024 Paralympic silver medallist were denied their victory in the doubles, as Cayulef and Perez secured a 6-3, 6-4 win over Lapthorne and Slade, ending GB's title chances this year.
